Your privacy at EtherComm
This policy explains which information the EtherComm website processes, why it is needed and how you can exercise your privacy rights. Effective 6 November 2026.
← Back to EtherCommWho is responsible?
EtherComm is the independent portfolio and IT website of Amin Idris. For questions or requests about personal data processed through this website, email info@ethercomm.eu. This policy covers ethercomm.eu, not every service linked from the portfolio.
What information is processed?
Depending on how you use the website, this may include technical connection data (such as an IP address in web-server or reverse-proxy logs), a pseudonymous visitor-counter identifier and country code, your analytics preferences and, only when you choose to use them, emails or chat messages with the details you provide.
The local visitor counter
EtherComm counts each public IP address at most once, even across different days, starting on 5 November 2026. The counter converts the IP address into a keyed HMAC-SHA256 identifier and stores this pseudonymous hash, the first-seen time and the country code. The country is looked up using a locally installed geographic database. The original IP address is not saved in the counter database. The identifier remains stored while the unique counter is running so that repeat visits do not increase the total. Older aggregated daily statistics are retained separately. A pseudonymous hash is still personal data under privacy law, not anonymous information.
The counter uses no Google Analytics cookie. Its purpose is a basic privacy-conscious overview of site usage. The processing relies on EtherComm’s legitimate interest in basic operational statistics, subject to the interests and rights of visitors.
Google Analytics and consent
Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC) is used only if you explicitly accept analytics. Without that choice, EtherComm does not load the GA4 script. When accepted, Google may set analytics cookies and receive information about website use. Advertising signals and ad personalisation have been disabled in the site configuration. Depending on Google’s processing, personal data may be transferred outside the European Economic Area. See Google’s privacy policy.
Your decision is stored in your browser’s local storage under a website-specific key. You may change or withdraw consent at any time using the button below. If analytics was previously enabled, withdrawal also attempts to remove the site’s Google Analytics cookies.
Cookies and browser storage
EtherComm uses browser storage to remember your analytics choice. Functional cookies or session-related information may be used by the existing Live Helper Chat service. Analytics cookies are optional and require your consent. No advertising network or advertising-tracking tags are installed on EtherComm at present.
Contact and Live Helper Chat
Clicking a contact email link opens your own email application; the website does not submit a contact form or automatically send an email. If you send a message, the sender details, message and subsequent correspondence may be processed so we can answer you.
The centrally hosted Live Helper Chat widget is offered for support; on EtherComm it uses department 1. If you open a chat or leave a message, the service can process your message, name and email address if provided, along with technical session information required to operate the chat. Do not submit sensitive personal information unless necessary. Contact handling is based on your request and, where appropriate, legitimate interests in providing support.
Server logs, protection and retention
The web server and reverse proxy may keep technical access and security logs to operate and protect the service. Retention of server logs, chat records and correspondence depends on the operational settings and the purpose of the records. EtherComm aims not to retain personal data longer than needed; exact current log and chat retention periods should be confirmed through the contact address above. The unique-IP hashes are retained for as long as the one-time counter remains active; historical totals are stored in aggregated form.
Other projects and external sites
Links to MIDI Manager and WELOOMA lead to separately operated projects with their own functionality and data processing. MIDI Manager’s website provides its own privacy information. WELOOMA accounts, profiles, messaging and rooms are not covered in detail by this EtherComm portfolio policy. External portfolio websites, including My-Eyewear and Mofitech, are also independently operated. Review each website’s own privacy information when using it.
Your rights and complaints
Depending on the applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or transfer of your personal data, or object to processing based on legitimate interests. You can withdraw analytics consent without affecting prior lawful processing. Contact info@ethercomm.eu; we may need to verify a request without collecting unnecessary new data. You may also complain to the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens. This notice is reviewed when services change.
